        White Mulberry
The White Mulberry tree, Morus Alba Tatarica, has many common names, such as, White mulberry, Russian mulberry, Silkworm mulberry, and Moral blanco. The White Mulberry is an excellent and handsome shade tree and is often planted on field edges in irrigated, semi-arid lands where it is also valued for fruit, poles and timber. This deciduous trees has a deep-rooting habit which makes it a suitable tree for linear plantings. It is a widely grown fruit which can be eaten fresh, preserved, vinified or, in some semi-arid areas, dried for winter use. Mulberries thrive in full sun and dislike crowded conditions; they prefer deep soils and need good drainage; they are frost resistant. Mulberries thrive over a very wide range of warm temperate, sub-tropical and tropical conditions.

      Yucca - Variegated

        Yucca - Variegated
The Variegated Yucca, Yucca glauca variegated, have stiff evergreen rosettes and are part of the scene in hot dry Central and North American scrublands. Yuccas are hardier than they appear, and only fail in cold exposed inland positions, where they are better grown as container plants. Otherwise they are handsome architectural foliage plants for dry, sunny borders. Yucca filamentosa makes dense clumps of stiff leaves 30 inch or so long and edged with fine curly hairs. The remarkable flower-spikes, 6' or more high, appear when plants are five or more years old.

      Chinkapin Oak

        Chinkapin Oak
The Chinkapin Oak tree, Quercus muehlenbergii, is the limestone equivalent of the chestnut oak, occuring as a dominant species on rocky alkaline uplands. This Oak tree is also sometimes commonly called yellow chestnut oak. Chinkapin oak is a medium sized deciduous oak of the white oak group that typically grows 40-60? tall with an open globular crown. Fruits are small oval acorns with scaly cups that extend to approximately 1/2 the acorn length. Acorns are valued food for a variety of wildlife. Chinkapin Oak trees have narrow, shiny green leaves that have coarse marginal teeth. Leaves somewhat resemble the leaves of chestnut (Castanea) whose nut is sometimes called a chinquapin, hence the common name of this oak. Its acorn is sweet and edible. The thin leaves provide light shade. Fall color is variable, but it usually displays shades of yellow and brown. Chinkapin is not used extensively as an ornamental tree, although it is quite tolerant of tougher sites.

In fact, it's more than attractive; it's a magnet for all the butterflies that pass through your garden seeking nectar. This deciduous bush blooms mid-summer to early fall. Butterflies and bees will flock to the honey-scented blossoms, whose dilute nectar is sweetest in midday sun. Plant it near a path or patio and the shrub will provide a delightful fragrance for you, too. It's generally pest-free.

      All Perennial Mix

        All Perennial Mix
This premium mix is a blend of 19 sturdy wild perennials from daisies, black-eyed susans, and lupines to penstemon, mexican hat, and of course, purple coneflower. This is the mix for the serious wildflower gardener who doesn't mind waiting a year for bloom (Most perennials need to go through a winter after germination before blooming.), but who really wants to invest in a permanent planting that should increase in color year after year. We recently added California Poppy to this mixture, and it serves two purposes. It is a perennial in its native range, so will be a permanent plus for gardeners in light-winter areas. For others, it will be a good marker species since unlike other flowers in this mix, it blooms the first year from seed, and will indicate the success of your planting. The bright orangey-golden blooms will be a highlight of your first year's growth wherever you are planting.
