Copper Weeping Willow - Wire Tree Sculpture 5"x5"x5"
This one-of-a-kind tree sculpture is created by prominent artist Sal Villano and is fashioned with wire gage sizes ranging from 32 to 18. The wire used is copper wire which will retain its color and strength for many years. This is the same wire that we use to train our bonsai trees. The tree sculpture is bonded onto its base, which is a glazed ceramic bonsai container, using sea sand. Since the bond is made onto a pourous material, a water soluable glue is used and, therefore, the sculpture should never be placed in a dishwasher. Podocarpus (podocarpus macrophyllus)
AKA Buddhist Pine or Chinese Yew. Podocarpus is a dense evergreen with pointed, leathery, dark green leaves arranged on stiff, symmetrical branches. The tree which is unisexual, has male flowers in cones and female flowers composed of cylindrical thickened scales. The fruits often edible, are pedunculate, fleshy and brightly colored. New foliage comes in a light green color that turns darker with age. Our trees are trained in the traditional bonsai style. Sweet Plum-24"x16"x24" (sageretia theezans)
A tropical evergreen tree native to China. Has very small (less than 3/4") green leaves which are lightly veined and almost bronze when they emerge. The Sageretia sheds its bark and the trunk becomes multi-colored. Small pink-white flowers in spring give way to small black fruits (3-5mm) during the summer and into autumn.
